Alphasat is Europe´s largest telecommunications satellite, developed through a public-private partnership between ESA and Inmarsat.Built by a European industrial consortium under Astrium, Alphasat is the first satellite to use Alphabus, the new high-power telecommunications platform developed by Astrium and Thales Alenia Space within ESA´s Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems programme and under a joint contract with ESA and France´s CNES space agency.
